She talked to people about their careers and why they chose that field, she gained inspiration to meet with a career counsellor, researched growth industries, reassessed her values and applied for a role as a Disability Support Worker with Hessel Group, studying for a Certificate III in Individual Support CHC33015 with Enhance Training RTO 40387.
Industries such as Aged Care, Disability and Child Care are experiencing a severe skills shortage which needs to be addressed now with an eye to the future. Workers such as Michelle are welcomed and have the chance to work flexibly while receiving an enormous amount of self satisfaction too. Everyday is different working in this industry and it also provides many more professional development opportunities offering further growth and the chance to learn new skills.
Michelle is a working mum to a busy 6 year old boy. Working as a Support Worker offers flexibility to manage her son's schedule while also maintaining a household and her lifestyle. Adding study to the mix was certainly a challenge however she used the resources available including Azadeh, Learner Support Services (LSS) Case Manager who provided Michelle with strategies and support to continue to move through the training units.
