For those of us who are privileged to work with children, we get to witness those amazing light bulb moments, when the penny drops and the child understands what is happening or what is required or why. You can see it in their eyes. These moments are different for every child yet the response is almost always the same - that look of certainty, relief or excitement.
Enhance Training is an approved training provider by the Government of South Australia, Human Services, to deliver the Safe Environments for Children & Young People - Through their eyes course. This is a full day course designed for people who work or volunteer with children enabling them to recognise, report and respond to children who may be at risk of harm. It is a requirement under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 for most people who work or volunteer with children to complete this course.
Being part of a community that does work closely with children also allows us to understand and see indicators that can help identify when things may not be right. Hessel Group and Enhance Training employs carers, educators, support workers, clinicians and therapists who all work closely with children and their families through many scenarios, all of these staff members have undergone and maintain their certifications in this course.
You are required to undergo refresher courses (half day) every three years, please keep your certificate handy so you know when you are due or better still, add a reminder to your calendar.
Enhance Training also works with businesses to have their staff complete this course and remain up to date.
This is not the same course as the Responding to Risks of Harm Abuse and Neglect Training (RHAN) which is essential for all teachers and staff working with children and young people on the Department for Education sites.
