POSTED ON October 2, 2023

Everyone has a story. When you take the time and really listen and understand what people are experiencing, you can open yourself up for growth, perspective and a healthy respect that you can adapt to your own life and use it to inspire your way forward.

Abigail finished her schooling, studying briefly at university, worked in retail and then with SAPOL within the fast paced emergency response team managing 000 calls where volumes would reach up to 100 calls per day. She gained valuable skills in this role however it also reaffirmed that she wanted to use her skills on the other side of a desk.

From a young age, Abigail knew she was interested in health care, she just needed to find the right option at the right time. She noticed an advertisement from Hessel Group seeking an Aged Care Trainee and applied straight away. Recruitment Officer, Louise Bruten identified the key skills that would be perfect to work in this industry especially Abigail's strong communication abilities and put her forward to St Anna's for interview.

Being a successful candidate for the traineeship, Bernie Crafter, Hessel Group's Field Officer commenced the onboarding and induction program which includes meeting with MAS National to administer the training contract.

Guiding and providing support to Abi throughout her traineeship was an absolute joy. Her outstanding level of commitment and dedication to both her studies and her job were truly exceptional. Abigail's deep sense of empathy, kindness, and caring nature made her role as a Care Worker feel like second nature.  Congratulations, Abi, on your outstanding achievement in successfully completing your Certificate III in Individual Support through your Traineeship, I wish you all the best for your future endeavours 😊.
