Enhance Training is so proud to have been involved in training this cohort of Aged Care trainees for one of South Australia's leading home care providers, My Care Solution.
Recognising the severe skills shortage facing this industry, My Care Solution designed a traineeship program specifically for mature aged people. This successful program attracts professional people looking for their "career seachange" or "farewell career" as Executive Director of My Care Solution, Mark McBriarty describes it. These people come to the traineeship with professional skills and social skills to share. They're looking for a career option that offers flexibility, personality and variety and this is what the Aged Care industry offers.
For many mature people, the thought of studying can be daunting so this traineeship program is ideal as trainees are part of a group of likeminded people who can support each other through the traineeship and that is exactly what this group have done. In fact, they have supported each other so well, they are completing their traineeships ahead of schedule and graduating to become qualified Support Workers.
Their typical week included one day of face to face training in Enhance Training's Skills Lab with their trainers Mel and Beth both are passionate trainers who bring industry experience and expertise to the course. They are also joined by guest speakers through the course who are able to add their expertise and advice on how to manage all sorts of situations they may encounter in their roles. The trainees are then placed on My Care Solution's roster where they work with their clients allowing them to use their new skills in the working environment. This level of learning builds confidence within the trainees as they have the most up to date knowledge and have the support of their trainers, peers and the team at My Care Solution.
