Hessel Group

Retirement of a much loved employee

POSTED ON August 11, 2021

On Friday 6th August we said goodbye to a much-loved colleague and friend, Ros as she commences the next phase of her life in retirement.

For 14 years, Ros has been the engine room of Hessel Group, establishing lasting business relationships and being a valued member of the leadership team.

Ros has always loved to work and has only ever taken a maximum of 2 weeks off at a time so these will be very green pastures for her.

We wish you well Ros and thank you for your passion, can-do attitude and commitment. We will miss you and can't wait to hear about your adventures.

Here's what Ros had to say about her working life and time at Hessel Group...

As it does for everyone eventually, I now look forward to the next phase of my life in retirement.

A little about my working life:

In 1972 at the age of 17, I left the family farm in the Mid North bound for Adelaide to find a job. As luck would have it, I secured a job on the day of my arrival in a strange city as an Operations Clerk with Esso Australia. I was there for 10 years, working with the same manager in various roles and ventures.

I then moved on to secure a job with Xerox, initially as a Receptionist and then moving into Sales. I was with the company for 7 years.

I loved the support work of sales even more than sales itself and was offered a position with Ricoh Australia in this field. I was initially employed as a Market Support Representative responsible for training clients on ‘high-end’ copiers and faxes and eventually moved into the role of Administration Manager. I was with the company for 18 years.

It was during my time at Ricoh that I met Tanya Cole, Founder and Chief Executive of Hessel Group (formerly NannySA). I was impressed by Tanya’s vision, her ‘can do’ attitude and her willingness to take a chance, which is why she is where she is today.

Having only worked for national companies, moving to the private sector was a big change for me, affording me many different responsibilities and challenges. I have now been with Hessel Group as Administration Manager for 14 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and cannot believe where the time has gone.

There has never been a dull moment in an ever-changing environment due to diversification and expansion, and I truly appreciate the opportunities and experiences I have had the pleasure of embracing.

Moving on has challenged me when thinking about the friends and colleagues that I will miss seeing and working with on a daily basis. It has also made me more aware and appreciative of the bonds made and personalities I have been privileged to work with.

I now look forward to the new liberties and life choices I can see for myself on this new horizon. Although I move on, I don’t move past the friends and fellowships I have chanced upon in my working life.

I sincerely thank you for all the support, kindness and respect that you have given me over the years and wish you all success, good health and happiness always.
