In just under a year, Ned Morrison has now completed his traineeship which sees him join the workforce as a qualified Disability Support Worker. Wind back 12 months and Ned was working in the food industry drawing on 8 years of experience in wineries, hotels and more recently as a FIFO cook for South Australia's Mining sites.
Looking for a new direction, Ned applied for the advertised role of Disability Support Trainee where he interviewed for the role and was offered a part-time traineeship with leading South Australian provider, SACARE. Ned met with Hessel GTO Field Officer, Bernie who would be his point of contact throughout the traineeship and enrolled Ned into the Certificate III in Individual Support - Disability CHC33015 course and completed the required forms to commence the traineeship.
Ned’s dedication and commitment to his study and traineeship has been amazing. Witnessing his growth in his new role as a Disability Support Worker has been wonderful. Congratulations to Ned on successfully completing his traineeship, I wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
— Bernie Crafter, Hessel GTO Field Officer.
With the additional support from Hessel Group's recruitment team, Ned commenced the process to gain the appropriate requirements for this particular traineeship. These included: NDIS Worker Check, Working With Children's Check, Unique Student Identifier (USI), First Aid Certificate and Car Roadworthy Report (Anyone who is aiming to work in this industry - take note of these and be ahead of the process).
After meeting with Apprenticeship Network Provider, MEGT to sign the training contract, Ned was finally able to work his first shift with SACARE where his on the job training commenced under the supervision of Samantha Keros, Service Coordinator.
Managing Ned Morrison, as a trainee, through the Hessel GTO was a positive experience. Ned is a very easy-going yet hard-working person. He is happy to better his skills to provide the care needed for our clients.
— Samantha Keros, Service Coordinator at SACARE.
As a part-time trainee, Ned worked with SACARE 3 days per week and studied 1 day a week. He was supported through his traineeship by his trainer at Enhance Training, Beth Christensen which provides another positive avenue to ensure the traineeship progresses efficiently and effectively.
Hessel GTO is excited to welcome another confident, qualified, skilled and passionate support worker to the industry and proud that Ned completed his traineeship in under 12 months.
Congratulations Ned!
